Description
Qing dynasty cloisonné enamel Chinese vase with Arabic inscriptions
Chinese, 19th Century
Height 11cm, diameter 17cm
Crafted for the Persian market, as evident from the Arabic inscriptions, this piece is a fine Qing dynasty cloisonné enamel antique vase. Low in height, set on three feet, it is elegantly decorated with lotus flowers against a turquoise ground around the base and up to the rim. Such pieces were often made for global markets, and Qing Dynasty China dealt a great deal with the Arabic world in particular. This vase is a fine decorative ware from this fruitful period of cultural exchange. -
