Description
Rare and extremely well prepared huge 20th century freestanding taxidermy African bull giraffe shoulder mounted seated on a faux rock bed.
African late 20th / early 21st Century.
Very unusual to find in this naturalistic pose and of extremely good quality standing at an imposing 2.8 meters high. The giraffe is the tallest of all living mammals with their legs being taller than most humans. Their distinctive patterned coat is unique to each individual giraffe and can be a way of identifying what area in Africa the giraffe originated from.
This handsome fellow was bought from a taxidermy specialist where we believe the skin came from an African wildlife park where older or injured giraffes are often culled or pass of natural causes and the skin is sold to help the prevention of poaching and hunting.
Cites Appendix II Annex B.
This impressive and imposing piece of taxidermy is offered in excellent original condition.
