Description
Homenaje a Frida Kahlo Sergio Bustamante Sculpture, Ceramic 15/25
Offered for sale is a Sergio Bustamante ceramic sculpture titled "Homenaje a Frida Kahlo" created in the 1990s, signed and numbered 15 from an edition of 25. This rare and fine sculpture is an homage to Frida and depicts a seated figure of Frida Kahlo holding a mask of herself in front of an image of Diego Rivera. In her other hand, she is holding an archaic and stylized Spanish poem with excerpts translated below. The sculpture will be accompanied by the original bill of sale and a later appraisal of the piece's value provided by the Bustamante Gallery as well as the certificate of authenticity.
The poem is about the visual and textual relationships as if one is describing her own self-portrait.
"It was a thirst of many years within my body, words enchained that one could never say, except on the lips of a dream. ... You are a thousand different versions of my dreams in the hours of the eyes of light". -
