  • Description
    Set of 4 French Restauration 950 silver candlesticks, ca 1815. Each: Bellied socket mounted to faceted shaft on “tri-paws” in turn mounted to flange; raised foot. Ornament includes imbricated leaves and gadrooning on socket as well as leaf-and-dart and leaf-and-berry borders. Engraved pendant flowers on shaft.

    Restrained return-to-order Classicism.

    Fineness stamps include one first introduced by the Association des Orfèvres in 1790s and the Paris fineness stamp (1809-1819). Maker’s stamp for Marguerite Hoguet; two candlesticks also stamped “V. E. Paraud” (that is, widow of Pierre Paraud, who died in 1812). Very good condition with nice patina.
