Ralph Wood Staffordshire Pottery Earthenware Colour Glazed figure which features a Medici lion, stood on a plinth base. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. This piece represents the antique marble lions which stand at the entrance of the Loggia dei Lanzi, a building in Florence, Italy. Maker's marks impressed to reverse. Condition Details - Flake to the lions back. KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the grey glaze; glaze accumulation to the lion's stomach; flecks of stray coloured glaze to the base; shrinkage crack to the lion's head and tail. RESTORATION. Remodelled tongue. Filled chips. -
