Description
Handblown clear and Amethyst (purple) Murano glass vase in the iconic manner of the "Rostrato" glass of the 1940s. Each glass vase was meticulously handblown using the same craftsmanship as the original 1940s version in one of the oldest and last remaining glass furnaces on the island of Murano in clear and deep purple or plum pigment-infused glass with delicately and purposefully pulled glass that form small peaks around each vase. This "Rostrato" method is done as the glass is cooling off. The result is a jewel like form that refracts light in every direction. This pair of vase was hand-made and signed by Stefano Toso (Stefano Toso was born in Venice in 1958 into a centuries old family of glassmakers and entered into the family glass works at an early age, beginning his apprenticeship with his father Berto). This listing is for a single vase. Pair available.
