Himalayan Quartz on Cast Glass
Studio Greytak’s Himalayan Quartz on cast glass calls to mind the dramatic geologic processes that created the Himalayas 50 million years ago. As if rising from the oceans themselves the crystal points climb from the brilliant green glass base ever reaching skyward. Green chlorite inclusions reflect the color of the base and adorn the pink, white and clear quartz points adding depth and color to the crystal.
Deep inside Meru Peak, considered by many to be the spiritual center of the universe, the quartz formed, steeped in mystical power for millions of years. Tectonic motion brought it close to the surface to be collected and revered.
Quartz is found on every continent on Earth, but those mined by hand from the vast Himalayan mountain range contain the highest of spiritual powers. In Hinduism, Mount Meru is the center of the physical, metaphysical, and spiritual universes and the home of deities Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Its earthly counterpart, Meru Peak, is equally revered, and nearly impossible to scale. Beneath the craggy peaks, quartz crystals have been immersed in the mystical power of Mount Meru for millions of years. Miners carry them out in packs, wrapped in layers of fabric to protect the clusters from damage. Unlike their quartz crystal counterparts from regions outside the Himalayas, these clear stones are not to be programmed with personal intentions—they are to provide the purest form of enlightenment.
