Tether Race Car Maserati Streamlined Art Deco Model 1947
-
Description
For offer a very rare large Maserati tether car made by Experimental & Model Company, (E & M) England c.1947. The person behind the company was a Mr. Knowles, very few tether cars were offered & very little is known about the operation. The car was sold in a kit form & had to be constructed by hand. It is made from aluminum, with some steel & brass parts. This version was modified by the original owner. It has a hand hammered streamlined body with a Eagle hood ornament added. The steering was altered to the front as the original car was designed to steer from the back. All the parts of this model are original to it. This car is featured in the book 'Vintage Miniature Race Cars' the collection of Bob Ames, published in 1993. Although this car could be raced we are selling it as a display model only. If you wish to run it, it would need a gas tank installed & it should be operated in a safe space by an experienced person. This car is in excellent condition, there are some minor scratches & dents. Just below the radiator at the very bottom are some very minor cracks in the aluminum, probably caused by racing the car, (see photos) but they are very secure & do not affect the performance or display of this car.
