Mid-Century Modern Abstract Expressionist Bronze Sculpture, Manner of De Kooning
-
Description
This refined Mid-Century Modern sculpture was realized in 1960. Presented on a volumetric rectangular ebonized wood base, the piece features an abundance of intermingling organic forms- full of verve and dynamism- with a richly textural surface. While the piece appears purely abstract, it offers allusions of figuration, especially since it appears to Stand on "two feet". The piece also translates the energy of abstract Expressionist painting into three dimensions recalling Clam Digger by Willem de Kooning. With its idiosyncratic form and beautiful craftsmanship, this piece would be a winning addition to any interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. While it represents a perfect acquisition for enthusiasts of fine midcentury art, it is also a compelling object that promises to add more than a touch of sophistication to any table, étagère or surface within an interior space. The piece is signed "Hamilton". Excellent vintage condition.
