George V sterling silver and enamel match safe. Made by William Hair Haseler in Birmingham in 1914. Hinged cover, fixed ring, and underside strike. Enameled scene: Balloons floating above bucolic countryside with no hint of what was about to erupt. A poignant souvenir from the last year of peace. Fully marked. Very good condition.
