An antique East Turkestan Khotan carpet. Handwoven in the Xinjiang oasis city of Khotan in the first quarter of the 20th century. Two bold nested diamonds along with side and corner matching triangles stand out from the mauve-grey field. Dots and crosses alternate in the rust motif outlines. The colors are mellow, but not totally subdued.
