An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. In sort of a Herati variant pattern, this NW Persian Tabriz is very precisely rendered in mellow colors with a palmette, rosette and curving leaf navy main border. As with Tabriz carpets generally, the design is perfectly balanced in all four directions with no extraneous elements. Tabriz quality control is always exacting. The pile is short and brushy and the weave is particularly uniform. Pattern and palette add up to versatility.
