A rare and remarkable Donegal by C.F.A. Voysey fragment rug, hand made in the 1880s. It is in excellent condition, consistent with age and wear. It displays a large blooming tree with two tulips next to it creating a picturesque composition on a saturated green background. The rug is colored in green, blue, red and light purple.
Charles Francis Annesley Voysey (1857 – 1941) was an Irish architect and furniture, rugs, and textile designer in the Arts & Crafts style.
This is Donegal by CFA Voysey Fragment number BB8545 in our internal collections. This rug was manufactured around 1880 in Ireland, which means it is already 144 years old.
