Doris Leslie Blau Collection Modern Bessarabian Floral Design Rug

$ 26,000
  • Description
    This awe-inspiring modern rug embodies the widely sought-after and utterly appealing Eastern-European aesthetics. Bessarabian rugs are famous for their designs that rely on contrasting shades with a bold application of black and brown, and nature-related, stylized patterns that exude unique whimsical charm. Here the main field is quite light, rendered in beige with subtle ornaments. It carries two bold medallions that constitute an introduction to what awaits outside of the center. The series of consecutive borders that embraces the main field is adorned with blooming floral garlands. As befits a Bessarabian design, the rich color combination (including shades of red, pink, green and beige) is presented against the pitch-black background. Together, the colors and motifs form a design that is somewhat delicate yet ready to make a statement in any interior décor. This flat weave was carefully hand-woven of the finest wool in accordance with traditional techniques to ensure its quality and uniqueness. It requires minimum amount of maintenance to remain in perfect condition for many years, pleasing the eyes and feet of its owners. Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
