Mid-20th Century Blue Indian Dhurrie Handwoven Cotton Rug
-
Description
Although Indian Dhurrie rugs are known by general public mostly for their elaborate patterns accompanied by exotic color palettes, the weaver of this particular piece decided to do something completely opposite and managed to prove that simplicity of a design can be just as good.
Despite being woven in the 1950's, this stunning Dhurrie displays a surprisingly modern composition which would not be out of place in a minimalist abode or maybe even the museum of modern art. Its size, 12'7" × 19'10" (384 × 605 cm), makes it a great choice for those people who want to decorate large spaces with little effort. The pattern is constructed of two elements in perfect balance with each other. A thick frame surrounds the central field, giving it a similarity to a painting.
Color palette of this piece is composed of different shades of blue from light to deep dark indigo, making it a great fit for many different types of interiors.
