Mid-20th Century Swedish Flatweave Wool Rug by Alice Walleback (AW)
-
Description
In the entire history of art and architecture there were very few trends that could compare to Scandinavian design in terms of world-wide recognition, and this vintage , signed by its author with the initials WA, encompasses the greatest ideals of the northern craft. Its graceful and simplistic design incorporates a geometric pattern inspired by the beauty of Swedish flowers. Toned yet intriguing, the color palette incorporates warm and pale brown, ivory, light slate gray, complemented by mustard, as well as dusty pink and yellow. The entire composition with a distinct rustic vibe is finished with a delightful fringe at the shorter edges of the vintage area rug. However, the lovely appearance is not the only forte of this vintage Swedish flat-weave rug. It was thoroughly hand-woven of the finest wool in accordance with traditional techniques by a skilled artisan which contributed to its unquestionable durability. If properly cared for, the antique carpet will surely serve its owners for generations, just as it has survived until this day without any signs of wear or damage. Versatile and fashionable, this work of Scandinavian art will be a perfect addition to a wide variety of interior décors, from classic to contemporary.
