Swedish Flat Woven by Birgitta Soderkvist

$ 8,000
  • Description
    This vintage Swedish flat-weave wool rug by Brigitta Solderkvist with woven initials (BS) at a corner constitutes the essence of Scandinavian craftsmanship. Both its execution and design exhibit timeless qualities. The open field features delicate striations in yellow and beige shades running selvage to selvage blending seamlessly from one to the next. A wide geometric border composed of a pattern of stepped diamonds takes the central stage in hues of yellow, green and brown on a beige background. Beautiful fringe on the vintage rug’s top and bottom part is a nice finishing touch, which gives it even more charm.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
