A vintage Swedish flatweave wool rug designed by Ingegerd Silow, signed 'IS' at the lower corner. It is in excellent original condition, consistent with age. The main field consists of petals of flowers in vivid shades of beige, brown, green, lavender, purple, taupe and yellow. This rug truly brings in the charm and heart-warming appeal of modernist Scandinavian artistry. The Northern European lifestyle focuses on cultivating a life that is mindful and joyful. A lack of clutter and emphasis on highly functional, streamlined items lends to this attitude. Organic shapes and natural materials are prominent elements of Scandinavian design. It stems from a culture of living in small rural communities that were generally isolated, requiring reliance on natural materials.
