Swedish Pile Rug by Marta Maas Fjetterstrom (Hasthagen Flossa)

$ 22,000
  • Description
    The vintage Swedish pile rug made by the queen of Swedish textile design Märta Måås-Fjetterström (hasthagen flossa). The "Hästhagen"was designed for the Gothenburg exhibition in 1923 and is considered one of Märta Måås-Fjetterström's central works. The pattern was inspired with Viennese design with animals and trees in geometric form. The rug is rendered in pastel pink, greens, brown, dark blue and beige. By bringing traditional weaving techniques back to life, Måås-Fjetterström produced compelling work of exceptional quality and surprisingly modern look suiting up-to-date interior design trends.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
