    1960s Cynthia Sargent Carpet for Tamacani S.A. A colorful work of functional art with rich texture and modern abstract lines woven into the hand hooked wool pile.

    Cynthia Sargent was an incomparable midcentury textile designer. She studied with Robert Motherwell, Meyer Schapiro, Joseph Albers and other artistic icons of her era. In the early 50's, she emigrated to Mexico and built a legacy of art and design that has become coveted by collectors in the know.

    Condition: Good. Colors show vividly, with no indications of soiling noted. Carpet backing is becoming brittle. One short end has had a thin wood slat adhered at some point, presumably for mounting to a wall. Good vintage condition.
