Framed Antique Chinese Imperal Silk Robe

Description
A black silk imperial robe with three medallions of five-clawed dragon and thousands of ocean waves border, all done in a splendid embroidery with gold bullion threads. A well preserved piece of textile art dated to Qing Dynasty, circa 19th century, the robe is an imperial attire belonging to the first royal family members and designed for a more casual occasion, with its open front and tie closure. Purple borders with Fine embroidery run along the collar and front and the interior is lined with a light blue silk. Mounted to a white silk backing and presented in a golden giltwood frame. The robe measures: 44"W by 39"H; 55"W x 50"H with the frame.
Collected sometime in 1939-1941 in China; Provenance and collecting history available. -
