German sterling silver goblet, ca 1910. Ovoid bowl and domed foot. Support in form of cast eagle with raised wings. The eagle was a symbol of Teutonic power since the Middle Ages. This piece dates from the Second Reich, which ended in 1918. German maker’s marks and English import marks; retailer’s stamp for Walser, Wald in Buenos Aires in Argentina, where a large German population settled beginning in the second half of the 19th century. Very good condition.
