Description
Japonesque sterling silver teapot. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1881. In form of sake pot with square curved body and stubby, tapering spout; loose-mounted bamboo-style swing handle. Cover flat with round lobed finial. On sides chased and engraved pastoral landscapes populated with yoke-bearing porter and ax-wielding woodman. Underside has engraved interlaced script monogram. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, date letter, and no. 105. Very good condition.
