Chippendale Designed Mahogany Oval Tray of Excellent Proportions
-
Description
Trays were produced in great quantities in the mid eighteenth century, particularly with the growth of tea drinking across a broad segment of the British society.
The great masters of style and designers of furniture produced an extraordinary range of designs, and as usual it was Chippendale who was responsible for the finest examples. This tray is masterful in its restraint with an oval outline, slim serpentine raised edge and gadrooned side carrying handles.
A beautiful tray with green felt to the bottom and in splendid condition. -
