Description
With this interpretation of Brancusi’s Kiss, Guerrino Tramonti reveals his close connection to the fathers of French modernism. Like many of his contemporaries, Tramonti valued Italy’s renewed encounter with the international avant-garde, legitimate bearers of aesthetic freedom and renewal in art after the constraints of fascism. The Romanian Constantin Brancusi, Ame- deo Modigliani, the art of George Braque, but above all his acquaintance with Fernand Léger and Pablo Picasso, whom he met in Vallauris in 1952, had a lasting influence on Tramonti’s form language.
