Moroccan gilt metal and silver-plate Islamic style dish
Moroccan, 20th Century
Dimensions: Height 27cm, width 36cm, depth 22cm
This ornately designed dish with cover was crafted from silver-plate in Fez, Morocco. It is supported with a circular stepped base and features twin swan-form handles either side. The bulbous body of the bowl is decorated with Islamic style engravings of arabesques and various other patterns. The domed lid is conformingly decorated and features a pierced gilt metal mount to the top, which is surmounted by a shaped finial.
The bowl is stamped 'SADF' to the underside, for La Société des Artisans Dinandiers de Fès. -
