A Renato Bassoli (1915-1982) large pierced sculptural centerpiece bowl from the 'I Sassi' (stones) series made for Il Sestante, Italy circa late 1950s. This is a larger than average example of Bassoli's Il Sassi series measuring 16" W x 15.25" D x 3.75" H. Blue and brown glazed ceramic earthenware bowl. The pale blue glaze has an almost iridescent quality. Abstract and asymmetrical in shape with offset bowl and pierced design to one side. The surface is punctured by 22 holes of varying sizes. Concave bowl measures 10.25" x 9.5". Signed to underside "Bassoli". Very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Minor fine crazing in areas of the glaze. -
