Rose Mandarin Cider Jug
Chinese Export, second quarter 19th c.
Porcelain with enamel decoration.
Over-all in great condition, very light wear to gilding and polychroming.
PROVENANCE: From a prominent Boston Family; Eldred’s, Dennis, Massachusetts.
This rare and desirable form of a cider jug is decorated with alternating Chinese figures and floral, fruit and butterfly motifs. The braided handle is fully intact and the jug retains the original matching cover with gilt fu dog knop.
