Pair of Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. Sterling Silver Compotes Centerpiece Bowls

$ 1,800
  • Description
    Early 20th century pair of Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. sterling silver compotes / footed centerpiece bowls in exquisite Art Nouveau style with pierced work and raised floral motifs, in a riveting, twirling shape. They measure 10'' in diameter by 5 1/2'' in height, weigh 31.3 ozt, and bear hallmarks as shown.

    Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. was a silver company based in Wallingford, CT and founded in 1895. By 1898, it was already absorbed into International Sterling, but its hallmark continued to be used for decades. The International Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that, between 1898 and 1903, joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silverware. The International Silver Co. was organized with an authorized capital of $20,000,000.
