An 18th Century petit point silkwork embroidery of a lady and gentleman stood in a country cottage garden. Sheep and a dog in the foreground. A house with a fence in the background. And a leafy tree with birds perched in it. Dated, '1732' to the tree stump. The piece is worked in petit point, using silk and fine wool-like threads on a canvas ground. Colours red, cream, yellow, green and blue. Framed in an old, repainted wood frame with glass. Mounting: The piece is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with paper and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Origin: England Period: 18th Century Condition: Generally Good. A few well-backed holes. A patch of discolouration on the lady. Stitch loss to worn areas. Some of the colours are faded, but still defined. Frame in good condition and ready to hang.
