Alexander Calder “Les Passoires” Tapestry
Modern Masters Tapestries is thrilled to present Alexander Calder’s Les Passoires, a remarkable tapestry that perfectly captures the artist’s distinctive style. This work seamlessly blends the symbols, colors, and shapes that define Calder’s iconic paintings and mobiles, beautifully showcasing his instantly recognizable iconographic language. This museum-quality tapestry features the perfect color combinations, recognizable motifs, and expert weaving technique.
A Flourishing Collaboration
Calder’s exploration of tapestries began in 1962 and continued throughout his artistic career. The renowned Ateliers Pinton, specialists in Aubusson tapestries, were exclusively commissioned to produce these works. To preserve their value, editions were strictly limited to six tapestries, with two additional artist’s proofs. -
