Georgian Miniature Sampler, by Elizabeth Wheeler. The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, in cross stitch. Meandering strawberry border. Colours green, light brown, silver, red and blue. Signed 'Elizabeth Wheeler'. A wonderful set of finely embroidered motifs, including fruit baskets, birds, potted flowering plants, a tree laden with fruit, fir trees, crowns, hearts. Framed in an old, possibly original, black, ebonised wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is tacked to a wooden board. Back sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Origin: England Period: 19th Century Condition: Good. Very Good. No holes. No stains. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame showing some wear, but is structurally sound and in our opinion could be hung 'as is'.
