Description
Scottish George II Band Sampler, stitched in 1754. The sampler is worked in wool threads on a canvas ground, in a variety of stitches. Colours red, blue, dark brown, purple, yellow and green. Alphabets A-S in upper case, numbers 1-10, and many family initials. Signed and dated '1754 MC'. Motifs including a lady and a gentleman. A variety of horizontal patterned bands across the sampler. Framed in a modern wood frame with glass. Mounting: The sampler is fixed to card. Frame backed with cardboard and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Origin: Scotland Period: 18th Century Condition: Good. Good. No holes. A few pale stains. Stitch losses to the divider lines. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.
