French Period Napoleon III Black Painted Tôle Lavabo with Floral Décor, 1870s
-
Description
A French Napoleon III period painted tôle wall-mounted lavabo from the Ile-de-France region, second half of the 19th century. Born in the later years of the reign of Emperor Napoleon III, this French 'fontaine' features a black painted tôle body, exquisitely accented with colorful floral motifs and gilded motifs. Created in Ile-de-France, the region directly surrounding Paris and comprising various treasures such as the château of Versailles and the Saint-Denis Basilica, this lavabo (which was used to wash hands) exudes an elegance typical of the later years of the 19th century in France. With its beautifully contrasting colors and exquisite décor, this French piece will now be a strong decorative accent, mounted on a wall. The basin is 17" W x 10.5" D x 14.5" H while the top is 11.5" W x 5" D x 14.5" H.
