Alexander Markovich "Untitled No. 28" Circa 1985
-
Description
This refined ink on paper work was realized by the renowned American artist Alexander Markovich circa 1985, which the scholar Svetlana Rakic called "The most dispersed and energy-charged of Markovich's ink paintings..." Using an expressionistic style, full of verve, Markovich creates an image of a solitary figure in "hieroglyphic form" seemingly in the midst of an ecstatic dance. The intentional ink splatters and wispy strokes (suggestive of calligraphic scroll paintings) imbue the piece with a dynamic energy that echoes the figure's movement. With its economy of form and timelessly modern sensibility, Markovich showcases his ability to create a compelling image with minimalist means. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. The piece is documented on page 73 of "Alexander Markovich: A Journey Towards the Divine" and comes presented in a custom gilded gallery frame.
