Description
A wonderful Sino-Tibetan painted thangka depicts Je Tsongkhapa, a revered lama and teacher of Tibetan Buddhism who is also known as "the man from Onion Valley" and by his ordained name Losang Drakpa or simply as "Je Rinpoche". Living in the 14th century, his religious activities laid the foundation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
In reference to his status as a spiritual teacher, the image shows him in his lama attire with the yellow hat, seated on a lotus throne with his hands in dharmachakra the teaching mudra. A halo and two stalks of lotus flower flanked him, and above him, two smaller deities float.
The image is mounted with silk and framed. The image size is 17.75 H x 12.75 W. -
