Faux Bois Hand Crafted Iron Pinyon Pine Branch Hand Painted Mexican Studio 1970s
-
Description
A faux bois hand crafted wrought iron Pinyon pine bough that is a wonderful piece of Midcentury Western decor.
The five foot plus long wall sculpture of a Pinyon pine branch with two hollow cast birds and a dozen cast pine cones has a dramatic almost abstract presence and hangs from two loops that allow for vertical or horizontal installation.
Properly lit this would create wonderful shadows as a center point on any wall.
There are six hundred plus hand formed pine needles of various sizes.
I believe after some thought that this was produced in a Mexican studio in the mid 20th Century, probably 60's or 70's.
A great deal of time went into the creation of this faux bois ironwork as is apparent in the forming and placement of the fifty hand shaped and welded fascicle bowls of ten to eighteen needles on each individually hand worked branch that comes off the main branch.
The variations in size, the six hundred plus needles that were hand painted, hand welded, and the hand hammered flattened tip on each must have been time consuming.
There are minor losses of paint on a few of the needles, some minor rust and probably a couple of needles missing but overall the condition is good as photographed. -
