Description
This oil painting on canvas is by the contemporary Connecticut artist Barbara Lussier, whose influences include the Old Lyme School and the Hudson River School. This painting was done "en plein air" on a New Hampshire homestead protected in perpetuity by the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust (property ownership may change, but the Ausbon Sargent easement agreements remain unchanged). The winter landscape shows a view from a snowy lawn of a farmhouse, with the ski trails of Mt. Sunapee in the distance. The evening amber sky and the blue-toned fallen snow evoke a warm and pleasing ambience. Lussier is particularly interested in the play of light and color in nature, which is one reason she likes to work outside observing these changes as she is painting. The gold frame was selected by the artist. The overall measurement of the piece is listed below; the sight size of the painting is 13.5"W s 10.5"H.
