"Virginia City" by Chet Engles Oil on Board

Description
This painting by Chet Engle is reminiscent of the time he spent growing up in the Mid-West. It is signed in the lower right corner and titled on the back of the painting. He admired the Dutch, Flemish and Renaissance painters for their depth of color and lighting. In 1942 he was included in a group show at MOMA. The Smithsonian holds several of his works.
