For Lila, sculpture is material in action, and molded glass is Lila's language, enabling a dialogue between exterior form, interior space and light. Immersed in a professional environment of designers at Zaventem Ateliers, Lila wanted to develop a new approach to glass by creating a luminous bas-relief combined with bronze casting. Her ‘Ondulation’ wall sculptures were the result, inspired by her study of the effect a drop of water has on a liquid surface. The result is rings of controlled imperfection that give the glass a gentle sense of life and movement. Hand-cast and set in bronze frames, each translucent light-sculpture is unique. What is more the light source can be dimmed or brightened, altering the piece’s jewel-like glow. Subtle yet strong, these pieces adapt like living things to any space.
