"In.2.It x 3," 2011 is a large framed abstracted landscape work on paper in black and white ink and charcoal by Renée Rey. While listening to and taking inspiration from the sound and rhythm of music from around the world, Renée Rey's work pays homage to the beauty of and connection between the human psyche, collective identity, spirituality, and the unique variety of natural flora and fauna in our world. She explores the competing concepts of frailty and strength we experience through the human condition and from Mother Nature. Rey invites the viewer to imagine the visual balancing act between the mysteries of the inner person and the outer world.

Renée Rey is a painter and mixed media artist working in southwest Florida and New York City. In Rey's telescopic and intimate artwork, she challenges traditional landscapes and self-portraits transforming them in mythopoetic universes disrupting primordial and natural systems. Formal language of abstraction and realism are ruptured and conflated in saturated color, staccato mark-making and symbolic iconography exploring seemingly disparate associations between identity, cultural diversity, science, religion, technology and the environment.

During her 26 year career, Rey's artwork has been selected for national awards and exhibitions by art professionals, museum curators and gallerists, and has been collected internationally. The artist has studied visual art and art history on the undergraduate and graduate levels in New York and Florida. She holds an MBA in Management.
