17th century mythological painting, landscape with figures and game of cherubs

Description
Mythological painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork of remarkable pictorial quality depicting a splendid Arcadian landscape with figures and games of cherubs. Trying to interpret the scene, we find a vine shoot with a bunch of grapes in the foreground and some sleeping men in the background. It could represent the end of a bacchanal where only a few children are left playing together with the splendid maenads, the followers of Dionysus. Painting of great pictorial hand, particularly evident in the realization of the flesh tones and in the minute naturalistic details of the landscape. 20th century frame in carved and gilded wood, of beautiful decoration, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting in small spots. Overall in excellent state of conservation. Internal size H 33 x W 45.5 cm.
