“Tending the Flowers”
-
Description
Beautiful, colorful figurative landscape of two young woman tending flowers near a river by the German artist, Albert Mohr. Signed lower right. Excellent condition. Overall framed in a carved wood white wash frame 31 by 37 inches.
German, 1918-
Albert Mohr was born in Paris, France in 1918. He studied at the Art Student League in New York for five years and worked as an illustrator, but soon became aware of his love for painting.
A painter of serenity and happiness with the human figure as the dominant force, Albert was greatly influenced by Marc Chagall. The artist paints the impression of a scene without concentrating on its details. To Mohr, the facts of the subject are less important than his response to them. His brilliant colors do not suggest space so much as light. -
