Her Heart Sets the Beat is a multilayered piece set in a vibrant summer city park. At its centre, a girl dances, swaying her long skirt from side to side, her eyes closed in a state of deep connection, as though conjuring the spirit of music. Her inward gaze suggests she is the one setting the rhythm, as implied by the title. Surrounding her, a group of people play the drums and other instruments, their music filling the scene. In the background, a group of friends enjoys a picnic while others talk and stroll through the park. In the middle ground, a woman is poised to score a goal, adding to the dynamic energy of the painting. A graceful willow tree arches over the girl, its branches falling like an embrace, visually connecting her with the rhythm of the environment. The painting weaves together movement, music, and everyday life, centered around the heartbeat of the girl’s dance.
