Acrylic and marble plaster on canvas board

I create the picture first in plaster, made from marble dust and a binding agent. This produces a tangibly dimensional look and feel. After being gessoed, I then paint on this relief with high-quality, heavy-body acrylic paint. The end result is a unique and impactful artwork which tends to draw the viewer in.

I have been drawing or painting roses in some form for over seventy years! I have been growing them in tumbling abundance in my various gardens for over forty years. My grandmother's Arts & Crafts house was covered in them as was my childhood home in Hampshire. So you will see them appear in many of my paintings.
This painting is a very unconscious expression of the connection I have with these flowers and one of my favourites.

This painting is on a canvas-covered board and framed.
The painting has several coats of a satin varnish for UV and dirt protection.
It is signed and dated on the back.
