Oil on board painting by the Italian artist, Felipe Auguste Rezia. Signed with initials lower left. Condition: Excellent. Circa 1880. The painting depicts Venice, Italy in the late 19th century. Overall framed with custom, deep gallery frame and linen liner 20 by 13 inches. Provenance: Newman Galleries, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Felipe Augusta Rezia was born in Italy and died in 1906. An Italian emigree who lived in Islington, London. He travelled with noble and wealthy families on their "Grand Tour" excursions. He exhibited at the Royal Academy Galleries in Suffolk Street, London with Continental Town Scenes. His style and palette are very recognizable and of consistently high quality which has earned him a good and growing reputation amongst collectors. -
