Titled on stretcher with artist's estate stamp: Trout Rock
From a Texas Estate.
Frank Vincent Dumond was an artist, illustrator, and painter of the Tonalist school. This work was most likely done in Nova Scotia where he took many of his students from the Art Students League to learn art and discover life.
Among Mr. Dumond's notable students were, Norman Rockwell, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Marin. My father Milton Funk, studied with Mr. Dumond at the
Art Students League for 4 years and growing up I hear only the most wonderful things about Mr. Dumond. He is was not just a teacher but a great man as well. -
