A French 19th century Continental School painting in carved giltwood frame, depicting a scene set in the Venetian lagoon. Created in France during the 19th century, this Continental School painting depicts a humbly dressed man and woman sitting on the other side of the Venetian lagoon, under a cupid statue. The tree's diagonal gives perfect depth to the composition and reveals the Serenissima in the background. Set in a carved giltwood frame, this 19th century French painting will enliven any wall beautifully, perhaps hung above a commode, side table or buffet.
