A small French oil on canvas framed painting from the 19th century, depicting a rooster and chickens in a barnyard, signed Normand. Created in France during the 19th century, this framed oil on canvas painting charms us with its humble depiction of a barnyard scene. A rooster, surrounded by its hens, is proudly perched on a haystack, a thacked home taking the center of the composition behind. The golden light, coming from the front, creates a stark contrast between the cream-colored wall and the dark vegetation. Set inside a black and gold frame, the painting is signed Normand lower left. With its brown and green tones and rustic subject, this French 19th century oil on canvas painting will enliven any wall beautifully, perhaps hung above a commode, side table or buffet.
