Here for your consideration is a very well executed original oil on canvas still life painting by the French artist, Georges Marchou. Rich, bold colors of poppies and tulips in a multi colored vase. Signed lower left. Circa 1960. Condition is very good; no issues. Overall framed in gold gallery frame with linen mat 30.5 by 26.25 inches.
Biography Georges Marchou
Painter from Bordeaux, France. Student of Ernest Laurent at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Influenced by works by Gauguin, Sérusier, Vuillard, Bonnard and Van Gogh (Source Bénézit) -
This painter was considered by some to be the last of the Fauves because of this palette and a gift for evoking humaneness. Marchou was influenced by the group called the Nabis. -
